I am Livia Turnbull, a curator and writer based in London.
I am an experienced collections curator, having worked as the Curator of Computation and Communications at the Science Museum, London, and as an Assistant Curator at the Victoria & Albert Museum (V&A). Some key projects I have worked on are the V&A’s Design: 1900-Now gallery, and the display Patric D. Prince: Digital Art Visionary. My recent writing has included a co-authored chapter about collecting NFTs in the Routledge book ‘Ethics of Contemporary Collecting’, leading work on the timeline for Thames & Hudson publication ‘Digital Art: 1960s-Now’, and co-authoring a chapter reflecting on the making of and ongoing life of the Design: 1900-Now gallery (publication forthcoming).
In my practice, I am interested in the intersections between art, design, and STEM subjects, and communicating complex themes to a general audience. I am values-driven in the content I find most interesting - from climate justice to disability activism - and in the way I curate, in an open and accessible way.
This site is a collection of some of the projects I have been involved with independently and at museums. If you want to get in touch about curation, writing commissions, or talks please reach out on my contact page.
