Acquisitions

Having worked primarily as a collections curator, I have a wealth of experience identifying gaps and biases in the collection and selecting impactful acquisitions that complement the collection as a whole.

At my role in the Science Museum, I made nine new acquisitions in the six months that I was in role. This involved identifying objects to represent developments in communication technology, such as the ISDN switch off, key moments in computing history, such as the control panel for the DEUCE computer, and connections between art and science, which included an early generative artwork by Paul Brown. I also built relationships with important potential donors, and ensured the handover of these when my contract ended.

At the V&A, I worked on over eighty acquisitions, some of which I proposed and led, and others I worked with or supported other team members to realise.
