Design: 1900-Now

The V&A’s Design: 1900-Now gallery updated the former ‘20th Century’ galleries, taking a broad definition of design to include furniture, product, industrial and digital design as well as art objects. This was a major project, part of the V&A’s ‘Future Plan’ development programme, and involved creating entirely new narratives, identify over 250 objects for display, and pursuing over 50 new acquisitions, and three significant loans. I worked on this project as part of a four-person curatorial team from 2019 to the opening in 2021.

I documented some of this work on the V&A blog and, and along with the other curators on this project, have written a chapter on the development and ongoing life of the galleries (publication forthcoming).
