Patric Prince: Digital Art Visionary
I developed the concept for and lead curated ‘Patric D. Prince: Digital Art Visionary’, at the V&A. Prince was an early collector and curator of digital art. When she started collecting in the 1980s, these artworks – sitting at the intersection of art and science – were largely overlooked. Through my first-hand research into the archive and collection, I was able to uncover new stories about the history of digital art, providing the context for contemporary digital art practices that are receiving increased public interest. I developed content for the display webpage, including blogs and articles, and wrote and co-recorded an audio tour to increase the availability and accessibility of the display.
The display received positive press, being featured as one of 2024s ‘must see’ exhibitions, prompted positive responses from visitors, and raised the profile of the V&A’s Digital Art collection. Using the momentum from the display, my team delivered a 2024 programme of events related to digital art.
